Leisure reading theme this week: Australia *who would have guessed*

So I went to the library and got some books, just to see if it was capable for me to read and keep attention. I got through 2 althoughi remember at least 50% less of what I read then I normally would. Anyways...

1. Smiling at Shadows by Junee Waites and Helen Swinbourne
This book is about a mothers journey raising an austistic child. I would more say it is about the child overcoming it's adversity...but I spose she has something to do with that. This book is great. Besides it being non fiction and being set within an Australian family, it opened my eyes to people with autisim. I thought it was pretty much the same as down syndrome or plain old being mentally challenged. It's really different. It also gives some insight into what these families have to go thourgh. I never knew people were so pressured to put their children in institutions and forget about them. Over all easy read, although the mother tends to lack some organizations and repeats some points a few too many times.

2. In a Sunburned COuntry by Bill Bryson

Bill is known for his travel novels. They are travel novels done in a non fiction, sotry telling kind of way. He not only tells you of the places he visits and people he meets but also some REALLY interesting and mostly funny history or personal stories of people from the country. I really loved this book. Would recommend it to people who have been to australia but more to those who haven't.

The only thing I didn't like was his superior attitude of himself due to being American. He does reflect that Americans can be the root of things corporate and ugly but in other passages goes on to say things about Canadians with the tone of "there is a risk of canada not remaning canada and becoming the states" because apparently it has been decided by Americans that Canada is not sustainable as a country? That really ticked me off. But other then him being the stereotypical American and then trying to say he isn't in other sections, its a nice read.

I am now moving on to reading "The Souvenir" a fiction novel by Australian author Patricia Carlon.

forwards

Ok guys, since I never used to get forwards it wasn't that big of a deal, but now that there seems to be some interesting enough to send me I may as well tell you that all my email adresses have some sort of filter that makes those chain forward attatchments not viewable. So I have not been able to see or read any jokes and or friendship chains you have been sending me. Just so ya know...

Updated web page

Changed a few odds and ends around: new poll, another blogger.

The new blog is titled "The Us Log". This will be for any of US or you or we or them *you get it* to contribute stories to this community blog about drinking we did, summer parites, elementary, junior high, high school, university and so on. It would be better to keep it reminiscent of stories about us and our different groups of Miramichi friends, but since we are all in different stages of life now, feel free to add stories of your new friends that you think will make us laugh and reflect who you are and how you have fun now.

Email or message me to get acess to posting to the blog. The Us Log

wants

to people who want things that are easily attainable: why bother wanting in the first place?

to people who believe in what seems most ligical by society : is the really believing? or just boring?

since it tends to happen.....

once a year, I am recording it for future analysis. It is now "all boys want to be with Krista" season. Boys who i once had crushes on and decided to be friends want to giver a try, boys who i have been close to decide they want to go back with their girlfriend but misses me so much it's almost impossible, guys at the bars have their pelvises stuck on my ass the whole 4 hours. Old guys, skinny guys, fat guys, young guys, black guys, white guys, not canadian guys (of course) are hoppin in the Krista bandwagon.

And just to rule out any thoughts of it being something else but a phenom.: i have not lost weight, if i did it was 5 pounds but i am on a hagaan daz diet at the moment. My hair is not styled and i have not been wearing makeup latley. Oooo and i havent any new clothes.

Herb Curtis is one of my all time favourite authors. He has an awesome style and he really captures Miramichi life. I think every Miramichier should own a copy of the americans are coming trilogy including the last tasmanian and the lone angler. I am now reading the silent partner (awesome). I have also read a book called something about autum and summer? Can't remember. But I really think he needs some recognition. His books are David's Adams Richards X5. Really good interesting reads that carry you through and you are done before you know it. D. Richards is totally different. Each flip of the page inflicts pain, agonizing boring and over adjectived pain.

And yes i think i made up a new word just there.
